Various authors, e.g. Epstein; Austin and Akin describe supervision as a scientifically based process whereby the supervisor guides the supervisee in the development of his / her professional capacity to enable him / her to function independently and autonomously. In implementing this responsibility, the supervisor performs supervisory functions in interaction with the supervisee in the context of a positive professional relationship.
