Guidelines for Media Requests

We understand that journalists often need urgent comment for input in breaking stories and work under significant time constraints.  However, FAMSA would like to request that, as far as possible, journalists’ contact us in advance so that we can schedule an appointment with one of our counsellors or appropriate person at FAMSA.

FAMSA’s field of expertise is dealing with relationships within and outside of the family unit, with our focus being on addressing relationship/family breakdown, trauma, domestic violence/abuse and HIV and AIDS.  FAMSA is a rich source of knowledge and expertise in this area.

Journalists, please can you email the topic, the due date, as well as the questions to Sandy Jackson: seniorsocialworker@famsawc.org.za and cc Pauline Sevitz: counsellingobs@famsawc.org.za, to ensure your request receives attention and to enable the counsellor to prepare.

No written notes will be given to the media, however the journalist may interview the counsellor in person or telephonically.

Journalists are requested to acknowledge the FAMSA representative and FAMSA (Families SA) Western Cape, also including FAMSA’s contact details, as every connection is used for marketing purposes.

A copy of the article must be emailed to Sandy before publication to ensure that FAMSA is quoted accurately and appropriately.  Please attach a completed form (download attachments below from this page).

Should you require more information and/or to arrange an interview please feel free to contact Sandy at: 021-4477951.
