FAMSA Online Counselling

About FAMSA Online Counselling:

We realise it is not always possible to see a counsellor at one of our offices.  FAMSA Western Cape also offers online counselling to suit your needs.  Use our online Client Portal to select a counsellor and book an appointments that fits with your schedule.

Benefits of Online Counselling:

  • You can select a counsellor that suits you.

  • Book an appointment on a date and time that works for you.

  • Ability to see all available counsellors and their available days and times.

  • There is no need to spend time driving to an office.

What you need to know about Online Counselling:

In order to receive online counselling you will need to create an online profile on our Client Portal.  After completing your profile you will receive an email with links to two forms you need to complete.  The first is our consent form for the services you will receive, on the second form you will need to tell us a bit more about your self by providing your personal information.  Please remember to click the submit button at the bottom of each form for us to receive it.  

Once you have created your profile you can also go ahead and book a session.  You will be given options to view available slots or to book a counsellor that suits you.  

We will send you an invoice with payment options once your session is booked.  It usually takes a day or two to receive your invoice.

Please note in order to confirm your session we need to receive the following at least 24 hours before the booked session:

  • Online Consent Form (you only need to complete this once)

  • Online form containing your Personal Information (you only need to complete this once)

  • Proof of payment for the session (please remember to reference you invoice number).  Payment options will be provided with your invoice.


  • We can only confirm you appointment once we received the above documents and proof of payment at least 24 hours before your session.

  • If you need to cancel you need to do so at least 24 hours before the session is booked.  A no-show fee equal to the original fee will be charged for cancellations less than 24 hours before the session or not showing up for your session.

  • You will need access to a device with camera and microphone and a stable internet connection.

  • We make use of Telehealth (a online healthcare consultation service) or Zoom for our online sessions.  Please ensure that you have Zoom installed before hand on your device and that your camera and microphone is working.

  • Your counsellor will send you a link to the booked session beforehand - usually on the same day of the session.  We will send the link to the email address you subscribe with when creating your profile.

We charge a standard online counselling fee of R400 per hour.
