Service Description
This course builds on what participants have learned during the ‘Basic Counselling Skills I’ Training based on the Egan Model of counselling for use by professionals, lay counsellors and those persons interested in learning more about counselling. The course helps you to further develop your practical counselling skills and looks deeper in to counselling theory. In this training we continue to look at the Egan Model by exploring Stages II and III and the relevant skills. Learning Outcomes By the end of this training it is expected that trainees will be able to: Explain the application of systems theory to couple and family relationships Demonstrate an understanding of stage two and three of Egan’s Model Demonstrate the skills of stage 3 & 4 of the Egan model: Advanced accurate empathy, Challenging, Immediacy, and Self-Disclosure Describe the principles of effective conflict resolution and confrontation Demonstrate the skills of stage three of the Egan model: Problem solving, Decision making, and Initiating change Please Note If you are not a registered mental health professional the Basic Counselling 1 and 2 trainings needs to be completed in order to attend other FAMtrac training. You can also apply for Recognition of Previous Learning if you have completed a Basic Counselling training with another organisation.
